Blendabilities Butterfly

I decided to pull out that fabulous Swallowtail for my Blendabilities post today! I also did something I've never done before; which was to cut him out! You can't tell too much in the picture, but I stamped the butterfly on Shimmery cardstock. That made it extra shiny!

  • Always Artichoke card base - 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"
  • Kinda Eclectic - leaves stamped in Always Artichoke ink
  • Swallowtail - stamped on Shimmery White with Memento ink, colored with all three shades of Calypso Coral Blendabilities
  • Amazing Birthday - greeting stamped on Shimmery White with Calypso Coral ink, cut with Banners framelits

Blending Technique Tuesdays

Today we are featuring Blendabilities for Technique Tuesday at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration. You will see the Blendabilities in the new Stampin' Up! catalog, but it will still be a few weeks before they are available for customer purchase. I've been having fun playing with mine, so I can't wait for you to get your hands on them too!

You will find a great tutorial at SSINK today on how to use these new markers. I've used them to color many flowers so far, but thought they would look great with Swallowtail.

I chose the Pumpkin Pie and the Daffodil Delight sets to color. Starting with the outside edges, I used the Dark Pumpkin Pie, then the Medium and the Light. I did the same with the Daffodil Delight, ending with the Light Daffodil in the middle of the butterfly. What I love most about these markers is how well they blend together, with the different shades and when switching colors.

Apparently I'm not a child anymore, and forgot how to color in the lines. I thought, "how am I going to cover this mistake up?" Then I remembered the Color Lifter Marker I bought with the Blendabilities. It worked! You can still see my mistake if you look closely, but it's so much better than it was.

I mounted the butterfly on an Old Olive base, and there we are!

Birthday

My philosophy is that you can never have too many birthday cards on hand. For me, it is because I usually remember the day before their birthday, "oh, I need to send (name) a card." If I have them already made, I have a much better chance of getting it in the mail and it not being unfashionably late!

Today I've created a card for you that goes together quickly and is easily duplicated. You can switch out the butterfly for your favorite image or background stamp.

I used the smallest square in the Square Collections Framelits to cut out the Designer Series Paper. The squares measured 1-1/8". I then used my Paper Trimmer to cut the cardstock layers at 1-1/4". For the butterfly layer, the vanilla cardstock is 2-1/2" x 3-3/4". The pink cardstock is 2-5/8" x 3-7/8". The large vanilla layer on the card base is 4-1/8" x 5-3/8".

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Wisteria Wonder, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla
  DSP: Afternoon Picnic
  Stamp sets: Express Yourself, Swallowtail
  Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Pink Pirouette
  Framelits: Square Collection
Tools: Paper Trimmer, Big Shot, Simply Scored
  Adhesive: SNAIL
