Creating A Background

Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Paper is a great addition to almost any card because it's an easy element or background to really elevate that card. However, sometimes you may not have exactly what you're looking for in your DSP stash. Today at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration, we are creating our own Designer Series Paper for Technique Tuesday.

Creating your own background is super easy. In my example, I used one stamp set, Garden In Bloom. I stamped each stamp in random patterns, covering my entire layer. This really allowed me to use my background as my focal point. What is your favorite Stampin' Up! stamp set to create backgrounds with?

Today, I fell in love with Mossy Meadow all over again.

Fall Hop

Welcome to the Fall edition of the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Design Team blog hop! As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number two on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop - Stampin' Fun with Diana. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

My inspiration for this card came from page 46 of Stampin' Up!'s Holiday Catalog. Here is my version:

  • Sahara Sand card base - 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"
  • Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper- 2 Crushed Curry, 1 Mossy Meadow each cut to 2-1/2" x 4"
  • Color Me Autumn Designer Washi Tape
  • White & Tangerine Tango Two-Tone Trim
  • Autumn Wooden Elements- colored with Blendabilities
  • For All Things stamp set- Sahara Sand ink and Mossy Meadow ink on Whisper White cardstock
  • Banners Framelits
I used Glue Dots for the Wooden Elements pieces. On the banner, I used a double layer of Stampin' Dimensionals so that it would lay flat with the Trim.

Thanks for stopping in today! I hope you enjoyed my creation. Now you can head over to visit Pam while she's Stampin' in the Sun.

Technique Tuesday: Decorative Masks

Have you tried the new Decorative Masks from Stampin' Up!? They are simple and so much fun!

I was inspired by the Designer Series Paper that I used last week, so I had to create my own background.

I created this background using the Stripes Decorative Mask with a sponge dauber and Always Artichoke, Crushed Curry, and Cajun Craze ink. I taped the Very Vanilla cardstock down very gently to a piece of scratch paper with some masking tape. Then I taped the mask down over the top of it so that neither one would move as I was working.

I stamped the leaf from For All Things and cut each one out with my Paper Snips. The Grateful For You is part of the Merry Everything stamp set, which coordinates with the new Note Tag Punch. In fact you can purchase the two bundled together and save 15%!

Check out Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration for more details on the masks, as well as more inkspiration for using them.

Introducing...

...the 2014 Holiday Catalog from Stampin' Up! It is full of spectacular items and fabulous project ideas. The best part is that you can order from it starting today! Drop me a line if you don't have your copy yet, and I'll get one in the mail to you immediately.

I was so excited to use all my new stuff, that I had to make two projects to show today! Fall is my favorite time of year, and I can't wait for it to arrive. (I also hope we actually have some fall weather this year.) I made these as a sign to Mother Nature that she can hurry up with the crisp weather.

First up is the fun box. I made it with the brand new Gift Box Punch Board. I used a full 12" x 12" sheet of DSP from the Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper package and followed the directions on the punch board to complete it. The great thing about this box, is that it will technically go together with no adhesive, but if you want to make it more sturdy and fill it with stuff, you would just need to glue the inside flaps down to the sides.

I used the Gold Sequin Trim (found in the Annual Catalog) to tie around the box.

This is what your paper looks like once you have punched and scored it before assembly. It was super easy to assemble.

For my card, I used another sheet of DSP from the Color Me Autumn stack. Did you know that almost all of our DSP is double-sided? This card features both sides of one sheet. The pattern that is on the side pieces reminds me of Indian corn.

The stamp set that I used on the tag is For All Things. It is probably my favorite set out of the Holiday Catalog. The inks that I used are Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey and Soft Suede. I'm going to have to make more cards with those three colors, as they are really pretty all together.
