Pop-up Peace

It's Technique Tuesday, and for a special treat; our technique of the day is pop up cards! Our very own Wendy Cranford made an excellent tutorial video; so make sure you link to the SSINK page with the banner at the bottom of this post to check it out!

I was sitting in class designing this card in my head while I should have been focusing on Instructional Design. I was thinking of using Flower Shop and the Painted Blooms paper. JUST KIDDING! I got home and my design totally changed.

I saw Peace, Love, & Cupcakes sitting on top of the stack of retiring stamp sets I had pulled out of my cabinet and was inspired. That moved me to the Flashback paper and the rest is history!

  • Perfect Plum card stock - 12x12, cut and scored and cut and scored according to Wendy's tutorial
  • Flashback DSP - base pieces 2-1/2" x 3-1/2", flap pieces 2-1/2" x 2-1/2"
  • Petal Potpourri stamp set
  • Lost Lagoon ink
  • Flower Medallion punch
  • Peace, Love, & Cupcakes stamp set
  • Strawberry Slush, Crushed Curry, Perfect Plum ink
  • Circles Collection framelits
  • Sweetheart punch
  • Very Vanilla cardstock
  • Basic Rhinestones
Here is a shot of the card closed and ready to mail.

Short On Time?

How about a quick and easy card? Remember the Love Story Project Life pack I featured last week for my Friday Favorite? Well I used it again today to make a super quick and very easy card. I'm not kidding, this card took me less than 5 minutes to make and most of that was cutting the cardstock and deciding which heart to use. In fact, it took me longer to write this post than it did to make the card!

Real Red card base, Smoky Slate layer. One of my favorite cards from the Love Story pack. Glued those layers all together. Stamped the heart from Peace, Love, & Cupcakes in Real Red on the card. Slapped on some washi tape from the Beach House set. Done. How easy was that? Plus, how cute is this card?

As always, you can find more Quick & Easy inspiration today at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration!

Happy Birthday Order

My husband's grandma needed some more birthday cards last week. She loves all the comments she gets about the handmade cards she sends, especially when they look at the back and see that my last name is the same as hers.

This is what I made for her for this order.

The card base is Whisper White. I created a background using tone-on-tone stamping with the flower from Peace, Love, & Cupcakes and So Saffron ink and cardstock.

I colored the 1/4" Whisper White Cotton Ribbon with the Old Olive Blendabilities. (See last Tuesday's post for more things you can color with Blendabilities.)

The flowers from Petite Petals are stamped in Rich Razzleberry on Whisper White cardstock. I then punched them out with the coordinating Petite Petals Punch.

I added the Happy Birthday from Bloom with Hope, which is a hostess exclusive stamp set. The inside is stamped with "Every year knowing you is a very good year," which also comes from the same stamp set.

This card is very easy to mass produce. I suggest going and making a few now; or maybe "pin" it for later!

Girly Birthday

My friend's daughter's birthday was last weekend. She had a Peppa Pig party this year. Here is the cake my friend made for her.

To go along with the purple and pink theme, this is the card I made for her:

Since Michayla is very much a girly girl, I went for as much sparkles as I could! I made her a shaker frame card with glitter and sequins in it. Next to the Happy Birthday, I used the Dazzling Details to add little dots. I also used the Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities to color the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. The stars were made with the Decorative Masks by sponging Rich Razzleberry Ink onto Melon Mambo card stock.

I called Michayla on her birthday. When I told her Happy Birthday, she said, "Thank You!" I asked how old she was and she very proudly announced, "THREE!"

It's CASE Day!

Today is a fun Design Team challenge! Our task was to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) a fellow Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Design Team member's card. It was really hard to choose just one!

I used Jennifer Blomquist's card from the Oh Hello, Goodbye post in May as my inspiration.

Here is what I was inspired to create:

As you can see, I kept the same general layout, but changed several things. The paper is from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack and features similar polka dots and a patterned paper. I also stamped on the Wooden Element, as Jennifer did. I had to add some of that yummy Blackberry Bliss ribbon, and used a few more stamps than she did.

The "Love," '&," and "Cupcake" are all from the Peace, Love & Cupcakes stamp set. It's one of my new favorites! My color combination of Blackberry Bliss, Old Olive, and Soft Sky came from the Color Coach; and honestly was not one that I would have ever tried on my own.

Have you CASE'd one of our cards before? We'd love to see your work; please share it with us!

July Color Challenge

This is probably one of the easiest color combinations we've had for our monthly challenge, but, oh boy, did I struggle with it. I knew exactly what I wanted to do, but then when I sat down to do it, realized that it used the same techniques that I had used on the birthday card last week; and even one of the same stamp sets.

I argued with myself that it would be ok, because it would show different ways to use the same things. "But it wouldn't be different enough." The devil's advocate side of me finally won the debate and I pushed myself to create something totally different. (See, even demonstrators have crafty struggles and debates!)

I decided these colors would make a good birthday card for a boy (or a KU fan). I stamped two of the splatter images from Gorgeous Grunge on the Sahara Sand cardstock in Real Red and Pacific Point. Then I ran it through the Texture Boutique machine with the new Tiny Triangles Embossing Folder.

I punched out 3 Hexagons with my punch and then cut them into fourths, creating two triangles and two diamonds. The Happy Birthday greeting comes from Peace, Love, & Cupcakes. I added two Pacific Point Candy Dots; and there you have it.

If these colors inspire you, please play along and post your project at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration!

Shake It, Shake It

I got some new goodies to play with today; but I forgot which new goodies, so I had to edit what I'd been dreaming up all day. All in all, I'm still very happy with my Shaker card today.

Cardstock colors: Lost Lagoon, Melon Mambo, Crisp Cantaloupe, Whisper White

I am so excited about the "groovy" new sets that are in the 2014-2015 Annual Stampin' Up! Catalog. Peace, Love, & Cupcakes is one of these, and one of the items that arrived in my box today. All of the stamps used on this card are from the set. Aren't they cute? I think the peace sign is my favorite.

The flowers feature tone-on-tone stamping with Crisp Cantaloupe ink on Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock. The Lost Lagoon ink looks really nice stamped on Crisp Cantaloupe as well, as you can see with the "friends" image. I love the new 1/4" Cotton Ribbon. It's so soft! I chose white so that I could dye it other colors with my reinkers. ;)

Since I thought the 2013-2015 In Color Sequins were coming in this box, and they aren't coming until Friday; I had to come up with something else to put inside my shaker. The Heart Border punch had just arrived in today's box, and the hearts are just the right size to put into a shaker like this! I punched 12 hearts out, dumped them in, and added some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to shimmer it up. Of course I had to shake it a few times to make sure it would work.

I used our fabulous Shaker Frames to create the shaker. If you would like to see a tutorial of how to make your own Shaker Card, head over to Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration.
