SSINKCC21: Color Challenge

Why hello there! Work and school have kept me beyond busy this last month; and left me with no free time for stamping. :( I'm back now! :)

This was a surprisingly easy to work with color combination. I had a workshop last weekend, so I used this combo to design my card around.

  • Whisper White card base - 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" - scored at 4-1/4"
  • Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock - 4" x 5-1/4" (retiring)
  • Decorative Dots Embossing Folder
  • Regals Designer Series Paper Stack - Island Indigo (retiring)
  • Top Note Die (retiring)
  • Circles Collection Framelits
  • Starburst Sayings stamp set (retiring)
  • Starburst Framelits (retiring)
  • Petal Potpourri stamp set
  • Flower Medallion punch
  • 7/8" Scallop Circle punch
  • Regals Candy Dots
This is the variation that we made at the workshop. We simply replaced the candy dots with Basic Rhinestones. Attendees were also able to choose which flower they wanted to use out of the Petal Potpourri set.

We would LOVE to have you play along with us at SSINKspiration this week!

Now Featuring

The Design Team at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration has chosen Starburst Sayings as our featured stamp set today. I was inspired to create this card:

The Brights color family got a lot of love from me today! I used Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, and Old Olive ink; as well as, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie cardstock. Sweet Taffy is the name of the Designer Series Paper pack that both of my prints came from. It also features all Brights colors.

Happy CASE Day

Our mission today at SSINK is to CASE a project from the 2014-2015 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog. There were many projects that caught my eye, however there were two cards that I kept coming back to. I ended up using elements of both of them for today's card.

I have yet to find a color that Blackberry Bliss does not pair well with. As you can see, it goes well with Tempting Turquoise!

Here is the card from the catalog that most of my inspiration came from:

I used a bigger piece of DSP, and lined the top and bottom with silver ribbon. I have used this stamp before, but honestly didn't realize there were dots in the HAPPY until I saw this picture. I felt that my card needed a little something more, so I took inspiration from the bottom right hand card in this picture:

For this part, I used a strip of Silver Foil Paper and my Fringe Scissors. I wanted to cover up the middle part where the paper wasn't fringed, so I used a piece of Blackberry Bliss ribbon.

The Stampin' Up! catalog is a great place to draw inspiration from if you are in a creative rut. I would be happy to send you a copy if you don't have one. Just email me your address, and one will be on its way to you! I hope that my projects also inspire you. I would be honored to see anything that you CASE from my blog postings.

Friday Favorites

Project Life is my favorite new item in the 2014-2015 Annual Catalog. I am working on Project Life pages, but I love using the PL cards on my cards as well!

For this card, I used a Pacific Point base, and a Melon Mambo layer. I used Pacific Point to stamp the Oh Happy Day from Starburst Sayings directly onto one of the cards from the Everyday Adventure Project Life pack. I finished it off by wrapping a length of Silver 1/8" Ribbon around the PL card.

Today is an "oh, happy day!" It's my husband and my five year anniversary and I'm flying home from Denver and will get to see him for the first time in a week!

Now back to the important stuff. Here is a shot of the Everyday Adventure pack.

Father's Day

We are sharing Father's Day cards with you today at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration so that you have plenty of time to get inspired to make your own Father's Day cards and gifts.

I had used the Hardwood stamp on my dad's birthday card, so I didn't want to use it again. Since the new Stampin' Up! catalog just went live yesterday; I didn't have any new Designer Series Paper to play with. Therefore, I was kind of stuck for what to use as a background. So I turned to an unlikely source: my box of Project Life cards. I found one of the larger cards that would be perfect. Since the larger cards are 4" x 6", I just had to trim it down a little bit.

I used the new Metro Type Alphabet set and my Stamp-a-majig for the D-A-D. I thought the greeting from Starburst Sayings cut with the Starburst framelits would make a good ribbon, so I cut two pennants out of Crushed Curry with the Banner framelits. Isn't that Lost Lagoon a yummy color? It is one of the 2014-2016 In Colors. Let me just say, that pictures of these new colors, do not do them justice; you really need to see them in person!

Friday Favorites

One of my favorite Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration posts each month is the Friday Favorites post. It's super easy because I can pick a card I made recently, decide what my favorite part is, and voila, I'm done!

Speaking of "voila, I'm done;" that's about how long it took me to make this card! I found a similar idea on PINterest. I edited it a bit to make it my own and to make sure it was easy for me to mail.

Starburst Sayings was one of those stamp sets that just didn't do much for me in the catalog. Then I kept seeing cute things made with it. I finally broke down and bought it and now it is definitely one of my top 3 favorites!

Simple Gift Card Holder

It feels great to be back in a regular blogging schedule. This is the first week since I took over my new position at work that I've blogged the entire week! Speaking of my new job, my student employees have had to deal with me expecting more out of them and changing the way they do some things. They have stepped up to the challenge, and I wanted to show my appreciation to them.

Let's face it, they are college students and probably won't care about this part. However, I'm guessing they'll love what's inside!

If you would like to see the full tutorial you can check out my Design Team post at Stylin' Stampin' INKSpiration. But before you go...

I've got BLOG CANDY! All you have to do is leave a comment with your guess of where the gift card is from. One lucky reader will win a Stampin' Up! embossing folder. You have until 9am Saturday, March 22nd to guess. Please also leave your email address in the comment, so I can reach you if you are the lucky winner!

Have a great weekend and ENJOY!
