Sunburst How-To

Last week I shared with you two Christmas cards I made using the Sunburst technique. Today I will share with you written instructions. I have another treat for you as well. More about that at the end of this post.

This has quickly become one of my favorite cards. I think mostly because of the Merry Christmas from More Merry Messages. It's so elegant.

Supplies:
5.5” X 8.5” Gumball Green Cardstock
4” X 5.25” Early Espresso Cardstock
½” X 5” Early Espresso Cardstock
2.75” X 5” piece of cardstock (can be a scrap)
3.75” X 5” Whisper White cardstock
4 pieces of DSP cut to 1.5” X 4” different patterns (Season of Style)
approx. 5.5” Gumball Green 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon
More Merry Messages stamp set

Instructions:
Score card base in half (4.25”), fold and crease with bone folder
Cut 4 DSP strips on the diagonal to create 8 triangles
Make a hash mark in middle of long side of 2.75” X 5” cardstock (2.5”)
Cover entire piece of cardstock with Anywhere Glue Stick.
Starting with middle two pieces, lay triangles down on glue. Piece to right of hash mark will be straight vertically.
 Work out to edges.
Trim off excess hanging around sides with Paper Snips.
Glue to 3.75” X 5” Whisper White piece, leaving room at bottom to stamp.
Attach Early Espresso Strip. Layer Ribbon on top of strip with Glue Dots.
Stamp Greeting in Gumball Green.
Adhere to Early Espresso layer, and then on to card front.

The vertical instructions are almost identical, except for the size you start with, and the number of strips you use.

Supplies:
5.5” X 8.5” Island Indigo Cardstock
3.5” X 3.75” piece of cardstock (can be a scrap)
3.75” X 4” Silver Foil Sheet
3 pieces of DSP cut to 1.5” X 4” different patterns (Winter Frost)
Pieces of Island Indigo, Pool Party, and Shimmer White Cardstock
More Merry Messages stamp set
Festive Flurry Stamp set and Festive Flurry framelits
Basic Rhinestones

Instructions:
Score card base in half (4.25”), fold and crease with bone folder
Cut 3 DSP strips on the diagonal to create 6 triangles
Make a hash mark in middle of long side of 3.5” X 3.75” cardstock (1 7/8”)
Use Snail Adhesive on back of triangles.
Starting with middle two pieces, lay triangles down on glue. Piece to right of hash mark will be straight vertically. Work out to edges.
Trim of two end pieces and use those pieces to fill in the corners.
Trim off excess hanging around sides with Paper Snips.
Glue to Silver Foil Sheet using Tombow or Sticky Strip in Corners.
Stamp Snowflake in Island Indigo on Shimmer cardstock. Cut with framelits.
Stamp greeting in Island Indigo on Pool Party cardstock. Punch with Decorative Label punch. Punch Decorative Label out of Island Indigo cardstock and cut in half to layer.
Add Rhinestone in middle of snowflake. Attach snowflake to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals

Now on to that treat I was talking about earlier. I've had so much fun playing with the Sunburst, that I decided it would work well in a gift. I am the featured designer today at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration, so I have shared all the details of my gift set over there. Here's a sneak peek!
